Brexit: AMC Networks opts for Madrid, Spain

120

In case of a no-deal Brexit, AMC Networks International is looking at Madrid to acquire a licence for its channels to be distributed across Europe.

In an email to Broadband TV News, the broadcaster said: “As AMCNI already has a large and well-established presence in Madrid, we are looking at Spain as the potential licensing authority.

“Given the existing operations we have in Madrid, we believe the process will be relatively straightforward and with limited cost.”

At the moment, AMC Networks International Southern Europe already operates 24 channels, including movie channels (AMC, Canal Hollywood, Sundance TV, Dark, XTRM, Somos, y Blast); factual (Odisea, Historia, Crimen + investigación and BLlaze); lifestyle (Canal Cocina y Canal Decasa); music (Sol Música) and kids (Canal Panda y Biggs).

AMC Networks International Central and Northern Europe owns and operates the global feeds of JimJam, the European feed of SundanceTV and a variety of channels in Central and Eastern Europe like flagship channel AMC, Film+, Filmcafe, Film Mánia, MGM, Sport1, Sport2, Minimax, Megamax, Spektrum, Spektrum Home and TV Paprika. In addition, AMCNI CNE includes the German pay-TV channel KinoweltTV and OBN Television in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
