The Supervisory Board of German media company Freenet AG has extended the contract of CEO Christoph Vilanek by five years until December 31, 2023.

“Christoph Vilanek took over the management of the company in 2009 in a challenging situation, restructured the Freenet Group and strategically positioned it for the future by entering the TV business. He enjoys the trust of investors, the Supervisory Board and employees, and accordingly I am very happy that Christoph Vilanek will shape the future of Freenet AG for another five years,” said Professor Dr Helmut Thoma, Chairman of the Supervisory Board.

Vilanek explained: “I would like to thank the Supervisory Board for their confidence and I am highly motivated to continue the successful development of Freenet AG together with my colleagues in the Executive Board.”

The Supervisory Board has also appointed Antonius Fromme and Rickmann von Platen to the Executive Board effective June 1, 2018. Fromme will be responsible for customer experience, while von Platen will head the partner management. Both have been with the company for over 15 years.
