According to the incumbent O2, tis follows an agreement with the broadcaster to make O2 TV Free’s paid content, namely O2 TV Sport Day, available on an exclusive basis via HbbTV on TV Prima.
Accessing the content via the Red Button costs CZK69 (€2.7) a day, with customers being in addition provided with O2 TV Sport , O2 TV Tenis and O2 TV Fotbal channels, including those shown in multidimensions.
Commenting on the development, Branislav Valo, responsible for managing O2 TV, said: “As O2 TV is a good habit, we are constantly looking for ways to improve our TV and move it a step further, so we decided to bring top sporting content through FTV Prima to other viewers across the Czech Republic. remove barriers to access to paid and exclusive sports content, which is the domain of pay-TV”.
Daniel Grunt, director of new media at FTV Prima, added: “We are delighted to have agreed with O2 TV to distribute sports content in our HbbTV application, which is one of our strategic communication channels with great potential for growth. Our Red Button currently has 1.7 million viewers a month, we are trying to make further improvements. At the end of February, we launched an innovative Red Button environment that delivers intuitive control with fast access to video content.”
Up until now, O2 TV Sport has only been available through the O2 TV Free channel, which is distributed terrestrially.
