The Czech public broadcaster Ceska Televize (CT) will end the distribution of its HD channels on the multiplex 1a by the end of September.

In a statement, it says that the simulcasting of its HD channels, which are still available for free on 1a and the DVB-T2 transitional multiplex, will end in six months.

In October, HD channels will become available on the DVB-T2 transitional multiplex 11, which covers 99.6% of the Czech population.

Meanwhile, all CT’s SD channels will still be broadcast on the public multiplex 1, which reaches 99.9% of the population.

CT says that viewers still wishing to watch its HD channels for free should go to the DVB-T2 platform.

Although the completion of the second wave of digitisation and the complete transition to DVB-T2 is currently planned for June 2020, the gradual shutdown of current DVB-T broadcasts will begin in November 2019.
