Romania’s leading pay-TV operator Digi has posted net profits of €15.29 million for the first half of this year.

According to Ziarul Financiar, this was 52% less than in the corresponding period last year.

The company’s revenues in H1 were €475.75 million, or 4.8% more than a year earlier.

Although its operating profit was at €57.58 million slightly higher than in 2017, it was impacted by net financing costs, up 58% to €31.17 million, while corporate tax rose from €4.49 million to €11.12 million.

Although Digi’s main activities are in its home market in Romania, it also has a presence in Hungary and Spain.

In H1, Romania accounted for 70% of its revenues, Hungary 15% and Spain 12%.

Cable revenues in Romania in H1 amounted to €93.7 million (+4% year-on-year) and internet revenues rose by 4.8% to €89 million.
