DNA to sell DTT pay operation

43

DNA is to sell its DTT pay business to rival Digita.

Customers who currently subscribe to the Finnish operator’s service will be transferred to Digita on January 1, 2020.

“Digital has a key role to play in the continuous development of antennas and increasing its competitiveness. We also have excellent conditions to operate our pay-TV business on our antenna TV network,” says Digita’s managing director Markus Ala-Hautala.

The company wants to expand the current coverage area and offer both new premium chammels and hybrid TV services.

Digita’s pay-TV services will be sold through the DNA sales network.

Digita has six network licenses for UHF frequencies on the national antenna TV network until 10 January 2027. About half of Finns watch TV via Digita’s antenna TV network.

The deal still requires the approval of the competition authorities, which is expected in the autumn of 2019.

The purchase price was not disclosed.

Separately, ther European Commission announced Tuesday that it has approved the transfer of more than half the shares in DNA to the Norwegian Telenor.
