The Spanish cable operator Euskaltel has signed a comprehensive supply and management agreement with ZTE España.

It will help Euskaltel in its expansion plan in five new markets in Spain, with ZTE progressively becoming the reference supplier of fibre users equipment for the operator.

All told, Euskaltel expects to save between €45-50 million a year by adopting high performance work methodology in the partnership.

Euskaltel notes that it is already carrying out deployments in Navarra, León, Cantabria and La Rioja thanks to its geographical proximity, in addition to Catalonia, through the RACCtel + brand, as a result of its agreement with the RACC.

Euskaltel maintains also maintains strong roots in these three markets, where it is the leading operator: in the Basque Country, through its Euskaltel brand; in Galicia, with R; and in Asturias, through Telecable.

The agreement with ZTE, signed at MWC 2019 in Barcelona, will ensure the availability of high quality equipment for the 90,000 new customers that Euskaltel aims to secure in the new markets. All devices will be compatible with Orange’s networks, Euskaltel having an agreement with the company.

Commenting on the latest deal, Francisco Arteche, CEO of the Euskaltel Group, said: “With the agreement signed today with ZTE Spain, the Euskaltel Group develops, once again, its strategy in the alliance with the main players of the market, with the double objective of unifying its methodology of work and simplify the company’s processes, which will mean a better experience for the users, the clients are the basis on which the Euskaltel Group develops all its business activity”.
