Delphine Ernotte, president of France Télévisions, reaffirmed her determination to launch the common SVOD platform with M6 and TF1, Salto.

However, the administrative steps slow down its validation, and time passes. “It drives me crazy,” she said on the stage of the Lille auditorium of the second edition of the great festival Séries Mania Lille Hauts-de-France.

Asked about the future of the Salto platform, the President of France Télévisions regretted the time imposed by the structures administrative measures, which slow down the launch of the French service alternative to Netflix.

Meanwhile, the European Commission has handed the Salto case back to Free nh authorities, and will now be examined by the French Competition Authority.

“In agreement with the companies concerned, the European Commission considered that the French Authority was best placed to examine this merger, in particular with regard to its impact on the national market and the Authority’s experience in this sector,” the European Commissionsaid in a press release.

The Salto project, which consists in creating a common SVOD service between France Télévisions, TF1 and M6, was set up to fight Netflix. The platform was announced in June 2018, but has so far not materialised due to regulatory questions.
