53

Broadcaster James Burke is to join a special session at the DTG Summit marking the 50th anniversary of the Apollo moon landings.

Burke, who joined the BBC’s science programme Tomorrow’s World in 1965 – was part of the presentation team of the BBC’s landmark coverage of the historic Apollo 11 landing in 1969.

At New Horizons, the DTG Summit on 8 May, he will describe to session host Dr Maggie Aderin-Pocock MBE how the BBC told the momentous story, and how tension in the studio built ahead of the ‘giant leap’.

For more than 40 years Burke produced, directed, wrote and presented award-winning television series on the BBC, PBS, Discovery Channel and The Learning Channel. These include historical series, such as Connections; The Day the Universe Changed; Connections2 and Connections3.
