There are currently around 40,000 smart TVs in Lithuania that support HbbTV, with the number continuing to grow rapidly.

Furthermore, around 500,000 households watch FTA TV services.

Commenting on the company’s latest set of results, Telecentras CEO Remigijus Sher added that he is convinced “that this context is favourable for the development of our new TV service HiTV. I also believe that HiTV will open up new business opportunities for both TV media and TV manufacturers and their consumers”.

As previously reported by Broadband TV News, Telecentras, or the Lithuanian Radio and Television Centre, launched a new HbbTV service named HiTV in June in cooperation with national TV and radio companies and TV producer representatives.

Telecentras had an operating income of €10.1 million in the first half of this year, up from €9.9 million in the same period in 2018. Its EBITDA was €2.9 million (€3.2 million) and net profit €349,000.
