OTE seeks Telekom Romania bids

67

Greece’s OTE has asked companies interested in acquiring Telekom Romania to put indicative bids on the table.

Citing reports in the Greek press and local sources, Ziarul Financiar reports that OTE is being pressed by its owner Deutsche Telekom to move to the second stage of the sale as part of an extremely ambitious exit schedule.

It adds that rumours of an imminent exit from the Romania have pushed the value of OTE shares on the Athens Stock Exchange to their highest level since March 2014.

As previously reported by Broadband TV News, OTE paved the way for the sale in April by deciding to raise the capital of Telekom Romania’s mobile arm TMRC, thereby effectively wiping out its debt.

OTE currently own 70% of Telekom Romania, with Telekom Romania, 45.99% backed by the Romanian state, holding almost all the remaining 30%.
