Plume goes direct-to-consumer in UK

53

Smart Home platform Plume has launched a new direct-to-consumer offer in the UK.

The launch is accompanied by a new and advanced IoT security service, and its latest piece of hardware, the PowerPod.

Plume already runs a subscription-based service in the United States that includes features such as Adaptive WiFi, which improves Wi-Fi reception through the home; HomePass, which adds individual control; and advanced parental controls with person profiles.

“The ever-increasing demand for smart home performance coupled with the proliferation of IoT devices means connectivity and security are merging and must be addressed jointly and comprehensively,” said Fahri Diner, Plume’s CEO and co-founder. “Leveraging our scale as the operator of perhaps the largest software-defined-network in the world, our learnings gathered from a vast population of connected devices uniquely positions Plume to offer the most effective anomaly-based protection of IoT devices.”

The direct-to-home offer runs alongside operator deployments Comcast, Bell Canada and Liberty Global.

Also, Samsung, has begun OpenSourcing of Plume’s device software middle layer known as OpenSync.
