Broadband TV News speaks with Dr. Peter Charissé, Managing Director, ANGA COM. The event will take place June 4-6 in Cologne, Germany.

This year, another ANGA COM – how was last year?
2018 was a great success: With 500 exhibitors and 21,700 participants ANGA COM reached an increase in visitor numbers of 12 percent and an exhibitor increase of 10 percent. For 2019 we already count more than 450 exhibitors for 95 % of the exhibition space – including leading international broadband vendors like Cisco, Huawei, Nokia, Arris, Appear TV and Commscope. We are happy to report that we are expecting a further growth in exhibition space. A significant contribution to this growth comes from vendors of new TV technologies like IPTV, App TV and OTT.

What do you expect to be the main topics of ANGA COM this year?
Hot topics of the exhibition and as well our conference agenda are 5G, Smart City, App TV, Internet of Things, Smart Home, Cloud TV, Copyright and Personalized TV. Especially this year, Big Data, Artificial Intelligence and Cyber Security will be expanded. These keywords reflect the ongoing industry trend of bringing together connectivity and content.

You have re-vamped the conference programme with new summits and new topics, can you elaborate?
Yes, the expansion of the international conference programme was one of our main focuses for this year. Besides the traditional Media Summit and Broadband Summit will have to new international high-level summits: The International Content Summit with C-level platform experts from Eutelsat, freenet, HD PLUS, M7, Metrological, Nordija and Synamedia followed by the International CTO Summit with among others Liberty Global, TDC Group, Tele2 and Vodafone. Both summits will be held on 4 June.

You have a new formula this year for small and young companies – what is the reason behind it?
With our new “Small Enterprise Park”, we will have a new special area for small and young companies. The offer is aimed at companies that do not need the infrastructure and size of a regular exhibition stand, but still want a fixed meeting and presentation point. The new offering has been specifically designed for software, content and service providers, consultants, research and education institutes, funding agencies, municipalities and authorities.

You have introduced a new concept for the international visitors, the International Keynotes – who do you want to attract?
With the ANGA International Keynotes, we want to address new connectivity topics like Digital Transformation, Internet of Things and OTT Content. Applications can be made online. This new format is another building block to increase the international conference offering of ANGA COM.
