IPTV revenues in Spain amounted to €340.9 million in Q3 2018, or 5% more than in the same period the previous year.

At the same time, according to data published by the regulator CNMC, those from DTH fell from €127.3 million to €112.3 million and from cable TV from €63 million to €47.4 million. Online TV, on the other hand, grew from €9.2 million to €11 million. Total pay-TV revenues were 2.1% lower at €512 million, while those for FTA TV services fell by 4% to €340 million.

The total number of pay-TV subscribers as of September 30 stood at almost 6.9 million, or 232,000 more than a year earlier.

Mediaset and Atresmedia together accounted for 83.7% of TV ad revenue in Q3 2018, while in the case of FTA TV services the figure was an even higher 88.8%.

DTT services accounted for 76.2% of TV consumption (free and paid), with DTH claiming 2.4% and cable and IPTV a combined 21.3%. DTT and DTH lost viewers, while cable and IPTV gained them due to the increase of pay-TV subscriptions in Spain.

CNMC notes that average daily viewing time in Q3 was 3 hours and 8 minutes per person per day.This was 32 minutes less than the previous quarter and part of a cyclical trend, with Q3 coinciding with the summer months.
